Freedom to preach the Gospel.
What is the Gospel
Rom. 1:16 states; For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also or the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written the jut shall live by faith.
Is there a difference between the Gospel of God as in Rom. 1:1 and the Gospel of Jesus Christ Rom.1:16.
Basically, they describe the same core message of God’s news of salvation, but they also emphasize different facet of it, such as the source of the message verses the central subject or messenger of it.
The Gospel of God highlights God the Father as the source, shows that it was God Who planned the redemption of lost sinners, and sent His Son to accomplish is purpose. It includes the grand design of eternal redemption, the kingdom and spiritual rebirth. Paul describes it as the wisdom of God and the Power of God.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ focuses on Christ as its subject, specifically on His personhood, identity and work. It centers on His incarnation, substitutionary death on the cross burial, and bodily resurrection and ascension. It also highlights Jesus as the only mediator between God and man and only through Whom the Father can impart His Grace, 1 Tim. 2:5, Acts 4:12,
In light of this what should one preach? What is responsibility of the Minister who teaches and impart the Word of GOD? Their character.
Consider 2 Cor: 2:14-17: 2:1-2, 4-7
But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. 15 For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, 16 to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?
17 For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God’s word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.
Freedom to speak the truth of the Gospel as a moral and spiritual imperative verses governmental and civil restrictions.
Isegoria vs Parrhesia.
Isegoria and Parrhesia are two distinct Athenian concept that both get translated today as freedom of speech.
Isegoria is the equal right of all citizens to speak in public debate. Isegoria is the equal right to participate in the public forum that is afforded to citizens equally as a political privilege or constitutional right
Parrhesia is bold, truthful, risky speech that one engages in regardless of the social, political or personal cost. Parrhesia means frank speech, or truth telling power. It focuses on the personal danger and moral courage of the speaker. It involves saying what is true and uncomfortable even when it angers others and is not protected politically or constitutionally. Should the Minister expect or demand payment for their service. 1 Tim. 5:18; Deu. 25:4, 1 Cor. 9:11-14; Luke 10:7. Compare with Mat. 10:8; 1 Cor. 9:18; 2 Cor. 2:11-7; Acts 20:33-35; 1 Pet. 5:2
